My Introduction

I think the world needs another blog just about as badly as I need another pair of clearance-sale black heels. But I have come to enjoy reading my friends’ updates, and I have developed blog-envy. Besides, my husband says I'm too busy to start a blog, and that sealed it. It's time to give it a try. Thanks for reading.

So ... why blog?

I love conversations, both ones that I am an active part of and those that I am privileged enough to hear. At parties, discontent to wade through the shallow waters of chit-chat, I have been known to launch into the deep, poking into the forbidden topics of religion, politics, finances and sex. But I am probably like you, I don’t say half of what I want, reserving those vulnerable thoughts for those who love me the most, dear friends who know what I am trying to say, even if I say it wrong. Like so many bloggers who have gone before me, I have found that writing allows me to think carefully through those conversations, picking the best thoughts to bring forward. I hope this blog will be an opportunity for me to do just that. So please post your feedback. Conversations are so much more satisfying than monologue.

So who am I?

I hate all the standard gender/age/career/marital/religious/hobby status labels, so I will just start off by telling you a little more about myself. I like reading chapter books to my children at bedtime, running in the morning before the world is fully awake, writing, laughing with my friends at the park, traveling anywhere, discovering new places with my husband, hearing inspiring stories, taking pictures, making oatmeal raisin cookies, reading good fiction and spending time with dear friends. I live in LA. I don’t know much about Hollywood and the “important” people who fill the tabloids, but I love to watch a good movie. I have always been deeply shaped by the family I am in, first the family of my childhood and now the family I am creating for my children. I believe in investing in kids. I homeschool. I really do want to be more like Jesus --- someday.
